Patient Experience: Real Patients...: Meet Ray Goodman

Ray Goodman
First-time Patient at Surgery Center at Mt. Zion

For most people, visits to the hospital, emergency room or even personal physicians are often viewed as a dreaded task. Some people actually fear a visit to the doctor. In addition, the stress of financial worries, missed work, a loved one’s health and confusing paperwork can combine to cause even more anxiety in a person.

At the Surgery Center at Mt. Zion, we work hard to eliminate these stress factors, and to create a nurturing, compassionate and comforting environment. It is our duty to provide our patients with the best possible outpatient surgical experience. If visiting us makes you feel stressed, then we are not doing our job

Take Rayman Goodman for instance, of Forest Park, Ga. His outpatient surgical experience at the Center proved that not all doctor’s visits and surgeries have to be feared.

Goodman had an outpatient Testicle Hydrocele procedure performed in July of 2008 by Dr. Carmen. This procedure is performed when fluid accumulates between the two membranes that cover the testicles. One or both testicles may be swollen. The condition is fairly common and may or may not cause discomfort. All joking aside, most men are quite uncomfortable and anxious facing any sort of procedure involving their testicles.

However, the procedure ran so smoothly, Goodman didn’t even have time to feel any of the added stress factors that patients at other facilities often feel.

He said not having to wait a long time before surgery was the best part.

“At hospitals there always seems to be a long wait just to get back to the operating room, mostly because they are running behind,” said Goodman. “At the Surgery Center, there wasn’t much time for me to even feel anxious.”

Goodman also appreciated the kindness that the staff gave his family whom joined him at the facility as his support team. Family members trying to comfort loved ones during a surgical procedure are often overlooked or even ignored.  Worrying about the treatment of your family is the last thing a surgical patient needs to be concerned about. At the Center, we promise that isn’t the case. After all, it is our goal to provide an unparalleled surgical experience that is in tune with your needs, and that includes taking care of your family.

For us, it is important that your entire experience with the Surgery Center at Mt. Zion is pleasant, from the moment your doctor schedules your appointment until the follow-up call you will receive after your procedure.

Just ask Goodman. His experience at the Center proved to be a pleasant one.

“I never even had to ask for anything,” said Goodman.
