Patient Experience: Real Patients...

Amanda Cabe, Tubal Ligation

Tubal Ligation, or informally known as getting your “tubes tied,” is an elective surgery and can be performed as an outpatient procedure. A woman’s fallopian tubes are permanently closed off in order to prevent future fertilization.

Prior to scheduling her procedure at the Center, Cabe had never before heard of the Surgery Center at Mt. Zion. It was Dr. Martin, her trusted OB/GYN physician of 16 years that highly recommended the Center and its staff. Dr. Martin also informed Cabe of the Center’s relocation and expansion to Spivey Station, as well as the new name, Spivey Station Surgery Center.

Since December 2008, Dr. Martin and the additional seven physicians of Southern Crescent Women’s Healthcare have affiliated themselves with the Center’s staff. By providing OB/GYN services, the Center is now able to offer more services as well as perform even more outpatient procedures each year. This goes to show that the Surgery Center is always looking for better ways to serve you.

Cabe trusted Dr. Martin’s suggestion to schedule her procedure at the Center, and in addition, felt even more at ease that he would be the one to perform her procedure. This took a lot of the stress off of Cabe, which is what the Surgery Center aims to do. We strive to relieve all your stress factors. If you feel stressed, then we aren’t doing our job.

Another advantage of having your procedure at the Center – the top-notch care you will receive, from the moment you schedule your surgery to the follow-up call you will receive after leaving the Center. This is just one of the perks to choosing a surgery center over a hospital.

Just ask Cabe. She was blown away by the care she received at the Center, from the very moment she was greeted at the front doors.

“The staff was truly some of the kindest and most professional people I have ever worked with,” said Cabe. “They truly made me feel like I was the only patient they were serving at the time.”

At the Center, it is our duty to make your stay as comfortable as possible, too. In fact, we even provide self-warming gowns and flat screen TVs for our patients waiting to go back to surgery.

In addition, our new facility offers many state-of the-art amenities. To name a few, we  have an Internet café for waiting families, a kid’s-only play area, a beverage station and a prescription dispensing machine that allows patients to fill prescriptions before even leaving the Center. These amenities are just another way to show our patients they are our top priority. This is the first time many of our new amenities have even been offered in the Southern Crescent. At our new Spivey Station Surgery Center, we truly aim to make your experience the absolute best.

“By far this exceeds any other experience I have had at a hospital or outpatient office,” said Cabe. “This group is truly second-to-none.”
