Making sure our patients are comfortable and prepared for their procedure before they walk through our doors is very important to us. All of your questions - health, financial and logistical - should be answered to your satisfaction before we ever see you. This removes the stress of uncertainty and allows us to make your visit brief and convenient.
Please read through the following to ensure you have a safe and excellent surgical experience:
You should not eat or drink anything past midnight prior to your surgery if you are planning on receiving any sedation or anesthesia. This is very important. Eating or drinking past midnight prior to receiving sedation or anesthesia can cause severe and even life threatening complications.
Make sure someone will be available to drive you to and from the surgery center as you will not be allowed or able to drive after your surgery due to the effects of sedation or anesthesia.
Do not take aspirin or any aspirin product 48 hours prior to your surgery or pain management procedure.
If you are taking High Blood Pressure medication, you may take it as scheduled with a small sip of water.
If you are diabetic, contact the Spivey Station Surgery Center or your physician to see if you should take your diabetes medication.

The Spivey Station Surgery Center will instruct you and your family present about your specific post operative care. Below are some general guidelines to be aware of and prepared for.
Do not stay alone for 24 hours
Rest at home for 24 hours. Increase activity as tolerated.
Do not drive for 24 hours.
You may eat and drink as tolerated after your procedure. Avoid acidic, greasy, spicy and dairy foods as these may cause nausea for 24 hours after your surgery.
If you cannot urinate within 8 hours of having your surgery, contact your physician.
Call your doctor if you vomit more than 2-3 times without relief.
Resume all medications you were taking prior to surgery.
Do not take aspirin products without the approval of the surgeon.
Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours.
Do not make important decisions for 24 hours.
